In Bridge the Gap, teams are tasked with the challenge of designing and building a bridge using limited materials, with the ultimate goal of connecting two separate sections and ensuring the structure holds under pressure, capable of supporting the weight of two toy cars. As an engineering challenge, it requires careful planning, resource management, and communication. Teams must decide how best to use the materials available to them while also collaborating with other teams to integrate their bridge sections into one unified structure.
This employee engagement activity promotes teamwork, problem-solving, and innovative thinking. It is an excellent opportunity for participants to demonstrate leadership and creativity as they balance the competing needs of stability, resource allocation, and effective communication. The collaborative aspect encourages teams to merge ideas, test hypotheses, and learn from each other’s approaches, resulting in a structure that’s both functional and built on mutual trust. The experience is a metaphor for how well-organized teams can overcome challenges by pooling their strengths.
Ideal For: Engineering minds, strategists, and collaborators
This activity is perfect for workplace settings, corporate team building events, or off-site team building sessions. It not only challenges participants to innovate but also cultivates a culture of cooperation and resilience within your organization.
